Terms and Conditions
1. About these terms
1.1 These terms form a binding agreement between you and Master UKMLA ("we", "us") governing your use of the Master UKMLA app and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these terms.
1.2 The Service is a revision-tracking and study-organisation tool for medical students preparing for the UKMLA examination. The Service is an educational aid only. It is not medical advice, and it must not be used to guide the treatment of any patient. Content you or we provide does not replace official curricula, clinical guidelines, or your own clinical judgement.
1.3 Master UKMLA is an independent revision platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the General Medical Council (GMC) or the Medical Schools Council (MSC). Progress records or performance tracking within the Service do not guarantee success in official UKMLA examinations.
2. Your account and acceptable use
2.1 You must be at least 18 years old, or have consent from a parent or guardian.
2.2 You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Your account is strictly personal and non-transferable. You must not share your account credentials with any third party.
2.3 Your email address cannot be changed once your account is created, because it is the identity your login and data are anchored to. Please choose your email carefully.
2.4 You agree not to:
(a) copy, modify, distribute, publish, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service;
(b) use automated systems, scrapers, or bots to access or extract content from the Service; or
(c) attempt to bypass subscription paywalls or security controls.
2.5 We may suspend or close accounts immediately if you breach these terms or misuse the Service.
3. Subscriptions, payment, and cancellation
3.1 The Service is offered on subscription (Monthly £8.99, Quarterly £20, Annual £50 — prices shown at checkout are authoritative). Every subscription starts with a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically.
3.2 Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
3.3 You may cancel at any time from your account menu. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period — you keep full access until then, and no further payments are taken. If you cancel during the free trial, no payment is taken.
3.4 Statutory 14-Day Right to Cancel (UK Consumers): If you are a UK consumer, you have the right to cancel your subscription within 14 days of starting. However, by subscribing and accessing the Service immediately, you explicitly consent to the immediate performance of digital content delivery and acknowledge that you waive your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal once digital content access begins. This does not affect your right to cancel during your 7-day free trial without charge.
3.5 We may change prices on reasonable notice. Any change takes effect at the start of your next billing period.
4. Access after your subscription ends
If your subscription expires or is cancelled, you may retain limited read-only access to notes you created while subscribed, at our discretion. Features requiring an active subscription (including printing and reference tools) are disabled. We do not guarantee indefinite access to your data after your subscription ends.
5. Intellectual property and your content
5.1 Your Content: You retain ownership of the notes, plans, and other content you create ("Your Content"). You grant us a licence to store and process Your Content solely to provide the Service to you. Your Content is private to you. We do not read, share, or sell it.
5.2 Our Content: All intellectual property rights in the Service—including website layout, app code, visual design, logos, trademarks, database structures, and curated features—belong to us or our licensors. You are granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial revision only.
5.3 Aggregate statistics (for example, average progress across users) may be used to improve the Service, but never in a form that identifies you.
6. Personal data and privacy
6.1 We process personal data in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. Full details are set out in our Privacy Policy.
6.2 Payment transactions are processed securely by third-party payment providers. We do not store or process raw payment card numbers on our servers.
7. Service availability and maintenance
7.1 We aim to maintain high service availability, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
7.2 We may temporarily suspend access for planned maintenance, security updates, or emergency server repair. Where possible, we will give reasonable advance notice of scheduled maintenance.
8. Data loss and backups
8.1 You are responsible for keeping your own copies of Your Content. The Service allows you to export and print your notes, and we encourage you to do so regularly, particularly for content built up over long periods.
8.2 While we take reasonable care and use a managed hosting platform with its own resilience measures, we cannot guarantee that Your Content will never be lost, corrupted, or deleted, whether through system failure, fault, attack, or otherwise, and we accept no liability for such loss.
9. Dormant accounts
9.1 To protect your privacy and keep our systems tidy, we deactivate accounts that are no longer in use. Specifically: if your account has no active subscription and you have not logged in for 12 months, we will send a warning email to your registered address.
9.2 If you do not log in within 30 days of that warning, your account is deactivated and Your Content (including notes, study plans, habit records, and placement logs) is permanently deleted.
9.3 Logging in at any point during the warning period stops deactivation. Accounts with an active subscription are never deactivated under this policy.
10. Liability
10.1 The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
10.2 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10.3 Subject to clause 10.2, we are not liable for:
(a) loss of Your Content (see clause 8);
(b) indirect or consequential loss, including loss of study time, exam results, opportunity, or data;
(c) events beyond our reasonable control.
10.4 Our total liability arising from the Service, in any 12-month period, is limited to the total subscription fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
11. Third-party content
The Service links to third-party resources (for example NICE and BNF guidance and curated videos). These are provided for convenience; we do not control or endorse them and are not responsible for their content, availability, or accuracy.
12. Changes to the Service and these terms
We may update the Service and these terms. Material changes will be notified to you (by email or in-app) at least 14 days in advance. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
13. Ending the agreement
You may stop using the Service and cancel at any time. We may end this agreement with reasonable notice if we stop offering the Service, or immediately if you breach these terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
